We stem from a public anthropology framework that works to "demonstrate the ability of anthropology and anthropologists to effectively address problems beyond the discipline—illuminating larger social issues of our times as well as encouraging broad, public conversations about them with the explicit goal of fostering social change" (Borofsky 2004).
We've built that into our practice.
Yei Tochtin is dedicated in facilitating, improving practices and quality of language work by using critical analysis, research and participant observation so that social movements and projects can fully communicate.
Initiated in 2020, at that time called Multiservicio Multiservice, Yei Tochtin stemmed out of an idea to try something new. We began interpreting for political events in person and online in NYC thanks to the insistence of colleagues. Enjoying the feedback we received we continued and decided to provide services as a small business. We've enjoyed remote interpreting, meeting new clients and colleagues nationally and internationally.
To date we have worked with leading schools, philanthropic organizations, literary institutions and grassroots movements across the country from our base in New York state.
